•ORIX establishes ORIX (China) Industrial Holdings Limited as an integrated management platform for business operations in mainland China

•ORIX has developed a comprehensive business development plan for Greater China and ORIX (China) Investment Co., Ltd. has set up its China headquarters to step up its efforts to develop its business in Greater China.

•ORIX and the China Railway Materials Corporation (CRMC) established China Railway Leasing Company Limited (CRLC), China's first professional railway finance leasing company. In the same year, ORIX and China Science and Technology Holdings, a subsidiary of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), established the joint venture Dongfang Zhongke Integrated Technology Co. The company has grown into a leading integrated service provider in the field of electronic test and measurement in China.

•China Eastern Leasing Company Limited, the first financial leasing company in China, was officially established in Beijing.
